What materials are required for a hydro grow show? Is it difficult to construct one? Where can you find the stuff you need? How handy do you have to be?Can you get creative about it?
It’s really simple to construct one.You need a big container that holds water, a couple pumps (one air and one water) and some hose.Everything you need can be bought or scrounged easily. They are pretty straightforward as far as putting them together goes. You can be extremely creative.
Let’s start with the container aspect. You have three options. If you want you can use one container for everything. You can have a plant holding container and then a reservoir.Or you can have a reservoir and multiple plant holding pots.
If you opt for the single container system everything resides in one container. You fill the bottom of the container with the hydroponic solution and then pump it to the top.The solution is fed to the plant and then gravity takes it back to the reservoir. The pump, hose and air pump remain in the solution under the plant. It is a small, simple hydroponic set up.The downside is that the roots can grow into the pump, you have to remove the plant to access the system, and to change the solution.
Two containers obviously take up more room.Changing the solution and accessing the pumps is much easier, though. Keeping the roots away from the pump avoids clogs and root damage.Even better, you don’t have to move the plants to get into the reservoir and access the pumps and solution.
Many plants and one reservoir qualifies as a multiple container system. In this arrangement you can access the hardware for all the plants all at once without disturbing any of them. It’s a good system for multiple plants.
Multiple, two or single container is your decision to make. Each method has its good points and bad points. Make your choice and get to work.
