08 Sep 10 All About Spinning Bicycle Setup And Maintenance

Regular exercise and cardiovascular training routines are very popular with many gym enthusiasts today, and the most widely used piece of equipment for cardiovascular fitness is the spinning bike. Spinning bike setup and maintenance is relatively simple, albeit quite routine and consistent especially if the equipment is frequently used.

These exercise machines are actually very simple to set up, as they are relatively packaged whole units and all you really needs to do is to find the proper settings and alignments for comfort during use. Adjusting the seat may take a little while, along with making sure that the pedals are aligned properly.

It would also be best to sit on the bike and then make the determination if the pedals are comfortably within reach, and if the seat itself is not angled at an awkward position. To be certain that forty percent of the body’s weight is on the handlebars as well as an approximate sixty percent on the saddle seat, one has to at least raise or lower the handlebars accordingly.

The exercise machine is an indoor unit, so it probably will stay free of dirt, however, maintenance of its parts is still significantly important. The use of the bicycle can cause persperation to drip down into the mechanisms of the equipment, making this prone to rust as sweat has salt content that will gradually damage the mechanisms if not checked and cleaned off.

At least once a week, the spinning bike should receive a general deep clean wherein all the cowlings and attachments are removed and given extra attention to washing. The moving parts, once cleaned, should then be lubricated with the lubrication solution that is recommended for most of these units.

Tension and stress on the chains and cables, as well as the mechanisms of the bike during use can cause stretching for the rubberized parts. In order to keep these firm and in good condition, the chains and cables should be removed regularly, especially if the workout training was rigorous. Use a cloth to remove any excess moisture or dirt from the chains, and allow the equipment to air out on its own to dry what little dampness may have been left.

Screws on these units have to be checked regularly, preferably right after equipment use during a workout. A screwdriver or spanner must always be close at hand so as to tighten up the nuts and bolts that have been observed to be loose and ready to give out.

Pedals and crank arms have certain torque settings that are usually found in the reference manual. These settings should be checked regularly for bike pedals, whereas crank arm torque settings can be checked once a month only.

Consistent inspection and maintenance of your spinning exercise machines is essential for optimum performance of the equipment, providing beneficial results for exercising individuals. The spinning bike can actually last a long time if maintained correctly and taken care of in the most diligent fashion.
